What does declaring a health emergency mean?

The Ministry of Health has declared a public health emergency and proposed a new strategy to control the epidemic as the rate of coronavirus infection is increasing day by day and the number of deaths is also increasing. What does declaring a health emergency mean?

According to the Public Health Services Act 2075, local government can declare a state of a public health disaster in accordance with the prevailing law. But in case of a disaster is in more than one local government, the state and the federal government can declare a public health emergency. Keeping the same act in mind, the Ministry of Health is planning to fight the Corona Epidemic. The action plan states that if the number of infected people exceeds 2,000, a public health emergency will be declared.

The Ministry of Health has initiated the process of declaring an emergency due to the spread of the epidemic in all parts of the country and the rapid rise of  Corona Epidemic in most districts. This means that the current strategy adopted by the government will not work and a new strategy will be launched and it will be known only after it comes out. Because of the high number of infections, it is not possible to keep them in the hospital. Only those who have symptoms should be kept in the hospital and everyone else should be accommodated at home or elsewhere.

The ministry estimates that the epidemic is still spreading and the death toll is rising. It is assumed that 15% of the infected will need to be hospitalized and 5% will need to be kept in the ICU. However, according to the doctor, the decision to declare an emergency on the basis of the increase in the number of infected people is a hasty decision.

Due to the pressure of Nepali coming from outside, sluggish testing, unstable quarantine and lockdown, the suffocating public life has indicated that the coming days will be even more difficult.
